Personalizing: Taking responsibility for something that is not your fault.Įxample: My sister is sick so I need to drop everything and take care of her, ignoring my health and well being.ĥ.) Catastrophizing: Overestimating the chances of disaster and expecting the worst to happen. If I cannot do it perfectly, I might as well not bother. This means that you see only the negative in a situation and ignore the positive.Įxamples: I pulled the weeds but my roommate went back and pulled some that I missed, she must think that I am incompetent.ģ.) All or Nothing Thinking (Dichotomous Reasoning) – Things are right or wrong, good or bad, there is no middle ground or grey areas.Įxamples: It is not right so I am not going to start.
